Try this simple handmade greeting card Idea
This flower card design is so simple yet so versatile and works well for lots of occasions — just change the sentiment greeting to suit the occasion!
Top tip: Make several of these cards but don’t glue on any sentiment just yet — you can add greetings when the occasion calls for it! So if you need a birthday card or a thank-you card, congratulations etc just pull out your ready-made card and glue on the appropriate sentiment.
You will need the following materials for creating and coloring the card:

- For the watercolor background:
- Piece of ceramic or blending palette

- For the card:
- An A2 Card blank made from thick card stock or watercolor Paper
The Watercolor Background
Step 1
Create an 4.25” x 5.5” (A2) side folding card base using watercolor paper or thick white card stock, 110lb would be ideal.
Step 2
Get a round medium-sized paint brush and use it to add clean water to the front of the card base
Step 3
Apply purple watercolor paint to half of the wet card front leaving the edges of the card untouched
Top tip: Applying wet paint to a wet surface is called wet on wet technique. This Skillshare class can teach you more about using watercolor in a simple and fun manner. If you use my link you can watch this class and hundreds others for free for one month.
Step 4
Clean your brush, then load it with blue watercolor paint and paint the remaining wet card front with it, also leaving the ages untouched, allow the paint to dry.

Step 6
Resize the digital stamp to at least 2.25” x 2.5”, I used Microsoft Word to do this, you can use whatever software you have, it could be Google Docs, may be Canva, Pages, Photoshop etc it doesn't matter. Next, print out your digital stamp. I printed mine on office copy paper since I won’t be coloring it.
Tip: You can print the digital stamp as many times as you like. If you aren’t sure how this works, I’m including a quick video tutorial below on how to print digital stamps.
Step 7
Draw a pencil outline around the digital stamp as a guide to help you determine where your white border to go when you fussy cut.
Tip: I left a white border, if you want no white border showing, cut as close to the edge as possible, and then go around the raw edges with a black marker.
Take a pair of scissors and fussy cut around pencil drawn edge.
Step 8
Stick the fussy cut flower to the card front after the paint has dried. I stuck my flower on, using a glue stick.
Step 9
Add a sentiment to the card. I used the saying “I’m here for you” from the Distressed Rose Digital Stamp Set by TinyGoldBrush. Feel free to use any sentiment of your choice.
I resized my digital stamp sentiment to 1.5” x 2.5”, using Word for this. I printed my sentiment on card stock then applied a light wash of purple paint to it, which I let dry before adhering the printed saying to the front of the card.
That's about it. I hope I inspired you create a greeting card and send out some snail mail
